Choosing the Vibe: Warm, Calm, and Soft Enough to Hold Us

There are moments in life when you realize you are not just planning an event, but creating a feeling. My Restore Soulful Retreats launch weekend was exactly that. I wanted softness. I wanted intention. I wanted the women who walked into that space to immediately feel like they could exhale. And to build something that warm and that gentle, everything had to be curated with care.

This is the story behind the scenes, the little details and the big heart work, the things no one sees but everyone feels when they walk through the door.

Choosing the Vibe: Warm, Calm, and Soft Enough to Hold Us

Before anything else, I asked myself, “What does softness feel like?”

For me, it looked like warm lighting, neutral and earthy tones, calm music, and an environment where nothing was rushed. It sounded like quiet laughter drifting from room to room. It felt like cozy blankets, flickering candles, and a space that whispered “take your time.”

I didn’t want décor that just looked pretty. I wanted décor that softened shoulders the moment you walked in.

Every color, every texture, every detail was chosen to make the room feel like a warm hug.

Curating the Guest Experience

A soft brand launch is really a soft landing place. I wanted every woman to feel welcomed without having to perform or pretend.

Here’s how I made that happen:

Intentional Arrival

Soft music. Warm lighting. A greeting that felt like “I’ve been waiting for you.”

Comfort First

Seating was spaced so no one felt crowded. Blankets, pillows, plush textures everywhere. I wanted the room to feel like a retreat even before the event started.

Gentle Transitions

No harsh announcements. No rigid schedule. Everything flowed like water.

If someone needed extra time, we leaned into it.

The Exhale Moment: Breathe and Let It Flow

One of the most powerful elements of the launch was building a moment for women to release what was weighing on them.

I introduced our Breathe and Let It Flow activity along with a burn list ritual. Each woman took time to write down what she was done carrying. What she was tired of holding inside. What she was finally ready to release.

Watching each woman breathe deeply, then let those words go, reminded me why I built this brand in the first place. This wasn’t just an activity. It was a turning point. A soft invitation back to themselves.

Partnering with Brands that Align with Softness

Everything in the room had purpose. From the gift boxes to the wellness products, I partnered only with brands whose values matched mine —nurturing, intentional, rooted in Black women’s wellness.

Black Girl Vitamins

BLK+GRN

Beloved Box

Harlem Candle Co

More small wellness brands that felt like home

It was important to me that our guests didn’t just see softness, they experienced it with every product they touched.

Curating the Food, Scents, and Sounds

Softness is sensory. I wanted the experience to touch every sense.

Scent: light, calming, spa-inspired fragrances.

Sound: gentle music with soulful undertones.

Taste: warm, comforting food that felt like love, not performance.

Touch: textures that soothed — blankets, soft chairs, smooth paper for journaling.

When all five senses agree on softness, the body relaxes without even trying.

Creating Friendship Moments

One of the most beautiful outcomes of the weekend was how easily women connected. I curated the room so women could look up, meet eyes, and instantly feel seen.

Soft seating circles

Journaling prompts that opened hearts

Space for laughter to flow naturally

A tone of “you belong here”

You cannot fake genuine connection. You can only create space for it. And that is exactly what happened.

What I Learned About Softness While Planning This Launch

Softness isn’t passive.

Softness takes thought, intention, and emotional labor.

Softness is a choice you make again and again.

Curating this launch reminded me that softness is not about the absence of effort. It is about the presence of care.

You create a soft life by choosing environments, people, and energy that feel safe enough to exhale in.

Why This Launch Meant So Much to Me

Restore Soulful Retreats was born from my own need to rest, reset, and release. Planning this launch wasn’t just about introducing a new brand. It was about declaring a new standard for how I want to live.

Soft.

Intentional.

Connected.

Held.

Rested.

I wanted women to walk into the room and feel all of that instantly. And based on the laughter, the tears, the quiet nods, and the long hugs… they did.

Looking Ahead

The launch was just the beginning. As we head toward a year filled with retreats in Martha’s Vineyard, Sedona, Napa Valley, Tanzania, and more, this is the energy I’m carrying with me:

Ease.

Joy.

Friendship.

Soul work.

Rest.

Wholeness.

Unapologetic softness.

And I hope every woman who joins me on this journey feels it too.
